Tuning your car

Engine tuning can be done in many ways. The most well-known is chip tuning. However, chip tuning is only really worthwhile for engines with a turbo or a supercharger. That is why Van Der Kooi often works with mechanical tuning. Machining cylinder heads (flowing), weighing and lightening connecting rods, knife edging crankshafts, and other mechanical modifications are performed in-house. Superchargers are a common form of tuning nowadays; the advantage of a supercharger is that you no longer experience turbo lag and the engine runs much smoother when driving gently. A supercharger is a mechanically driven “turbo,” meaning it is continuously powered.
