About Upholstery C. van Straaten and Son

The company C. van Straaten en Zn. was founded in the mid-50s. Originally, car upholstery was its primary activity. Later, various other branches of upholstery were added.

In the mid-60s, Martien van Straaten followed in his father's footsteps. He obtained all the necessary diplomas to practice the trade as a master upholsterer.

Car upholstery gains national recognition, causing automotive upholstery to become a growing part of the company. Various prizes are also won at concours events. Furniture upholstery remains at a consistent level, and the first steps are taken in the field of project upholstery.

In the mid-90s, Conrad de Bruin, a cousin of Martien and Dick, joined the company as a young man. With Martien as his mentor, he developed into a skilled car upholsterer, but he also won first prize for 'Best Furniture Upholsterer in the Netherlands' in 2002. As described in a previously established future plan, Conrad succeeded Martien as director in 2007.

Currently, five people work at the company. The advantages of this include the fact that we complement each other well in terms of knowledge and that large-scale projects can be executed adequately and efficiently. Given the great interest in our company, particularly from the project furnishing sector, we look forward to the future with full confidence.
