The BMW New Six CS (internal name BMW E9) was a two-door coupe built for BMW by Karmann between 1968 and 1975. The basis of this New Six was the BMW 2000CS coupe.
The E9 platform performed well in racing, particularly in the European Touring Car Championship and the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. As a result, BMW was increasingly seen as the car for the sporty driver.

BMW 2800CS
The 2800CS was the first to roll off the production line and replaced the 2000C and 2000CS in 1968. The wheelbase and length were increased to lengthen the engine bay so that the new inline six-cylinder engine, codenamed M30, would fit inside. Additionally, the front of the car was restyled. The 2800CS was lighter than the preceding 2000CS.
